An important part of the Institute’s responsibilities is to conduct, manage, and promote archaeological fieldwork. We have been involved with major projects since the initial season at Tell Hesban in 1968, and focus our efforts on the archaeology of the near east. As a key contributor to the Madaba Plains Project, the Institute of Archaeology at Andrews University, along with La Sierra University and the American Schools of Oriental Research, have provided terrific opportunities to conduct fieldwork in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Additionally, we have participated in excavations in Israel, Cyprus, and Sicily.
Opportunities for Fieldwork
Current and upcoming fieldwork opportunities are available at the sites of Tall Hisban and Tall Jalul in Jordan.
Additionally, in 2019 there will be an excavation at Khirbet Safra (Jordan) and in San Miceli, Sicily.
